How to read a comparison on this site
A comparison page is a decision-support surface, not a decision. Each pairwise and cross-class comparison on this site is built from published trial evidence, MHRA / EMA licensed indications, and the underlying pharmacology of the molecules involved. What a comparison can help you do is see how two or three agents sit against each other on a specific, named dimension — receptor profile, dose schedule, weight-reduction magnitude in a comparable trial population, cardiovascular outcome evidence, UK regulatory status. What it cannot do is tell you which medicine is right for any individual.
The two comparison shapes on this hub are distinct. Pairwise comparisons put two molecules side by side and are most useful when the choice is genuinely between two options with overlapping licensed indications (e.g., semaglutide vs tirzepatide for weight management). Evidence-led comparisons are broader — cross-class, category-distinction, and topic-anchored — and are useful for orienting yourself when the question is about the state of the evidence rather than a specific choice (e.g., how the GLP-1 class as a whole compares on cardiovascular outcomes, or how NHS access differs between Mounjaro and Wegovy).
Every comparison inherits the site's source hierarchy: the primary trial publication is the anchor, followed by MHRA / EMA regulatory documents (SmPC, EPAR), followed by peer-reviewed meta-analysis where available. Editorial synthesis on a comparison page never replaces those primary sources — it aggregates them so a reader can see the differences at a glance, then follow the reference links for the exact numerical results. If a comparison page carries a mid-treatment switching scenario, note that head-to-head trials in treatment-naive populations (e.g., SURMOUNT-5) inform switching decisions but do not substitute for prescriber judgement on titration, washout, and individual clinical context.
Nothing on this hub — the sortable matrix at the top, the evidence-led grid below, the pairwise pages — provides prescribing recommendations, dosing schedules, or supplier guidance. Where a decision needs to be made about starting, switching, or stopping a licensed medicine, the decision-maker is a qualified UK prescriber following appropriate clinical assessment.

How to read the matrix
Mean weight reduction is reported at the highest tested dose in each compound's most-cited pivotal trial. Half-life is the elimination half-life of the molecule (steady-state accumulation across multiple doses follows roughly 4-5 half-lives). UK status distinguishes MHRA-licensed prescription medicines (which carry full clinical evidence packages) from research compounds supplied for laboratory and analytical use only.
