External resources for UK metabolic peptide research

Authoritative regulatory, literature and trial-registry references. We do not list, rank or link to any supplier, online pharmacy or compounder.

How to use this page

The links below are grouped by the kind of question they answer, not by authority ranking. Which group is most useful depends on why you are here.

Clinicians and prescribers generally want the UK regulators and prescribing references first: the MHRA licensing position, the BNF entry, the relevant NICE technology appraisal or clinical guideline, and the Yellow Card scheme for pharmacovigilance. The BNF is the anchor for UK-licensed indications, doses, contraindications and interactions; NICE governs NHS access. For adverse-event reporting during ongoing therapy, Yellow Card is the primary route.

Researchers and academics generally want the primary literature and trial registries: PubMed for indexed publications, ClinicalTrials.gov and ISRCTN for protocols and topline results, the EU CTIS register for EU / EEA-conducted studies, and Cochrane for systematic-review-grade synthesis. The pivotal GLP-1 receptor agonist trial families (SURMOUNT, SURPASS, STEP, SUSTAIN, SELECT, SUMMIT, FLOW, TRIUMPH) each have registered protocols and referenced primary publications; the trial pages on this site link to the corresponding primary sources.

Patients and researchers into their own therapy generally start with the MHRA / EMA landing pages for the medicine of interest and the Yellow Card scheme for reporting suspected adverse events. The EMA European Public Assessment Report (EPAR) for each centrally-authorised medicine is the fullest publicly-available regulatory dossier and often the most useful single document if you want the licensed indication, dosing schedule, safety profile and trial evidence in one place.

Athletes and coaches should verify status through the relevant national anti-doping authority (UKAD in the UK). The WADA Prohibited List and athlete advisories are the top-level references, but jurisdiction-specific rules apply — always confirm with your own anti-doping authority before use of any peptide substance.

Why we do not host a supplier directory

The most common request from readers who arrive here is for a supplier, online pharmacy or compounder recommendation. This site does not maintain that kind of list and will not add one. There are two reasons. First, the licensed GLP-1 receptor agonists in the UK are prescription-only medicines that should only be obtained via a UK-registered pharmacy on a valid prescription from a UK-registered prescriber following appropriate clinical assessment; supplier-side comparison is not the same class of question. Second, the research-only peptide market involves substantial counterfeit, mislabelled and unregulated product risk, and the site's editorial standards would not allow supplier ranking to sit alongside neutral scientific coverage without a conflict of interest. Where the site accepts sponsored placement (from PeptideBarn.co.uk), that placement is separately disclosed, labelled “Sponsored” and confined to specific visual surfaces so that the editorial resource list here remains supplier-agnostic.

UK regulators and prescribing references

EU, US and international regulators

  • EMA — European Medicines Agency

EU centralised marketing authorisations. European Public Assessment Reports (EPARs) are the authoritative public dossiers for tirzepatide, semaglutide and liraglutide.

  • FDA — US Food and Drug Administration

US regulator. FDA labels and AdComm materials are widely referenced for indication scope and safety language even where UK status differs.

  • WADA — World Anti-Doping Agency

Prohibited List and athlete advisory notes relevant to peptide hormone classes. Athletes should always verify status through their own anti-doping authority.

Primary literature and trial registries

  • PubMed

NIH biomedical literature index. Free abstracts, often with full text via PubMed Central.

  • ClinicalTrials.gov

US trial registry. SURMOUNT, SURPASS, STEP, SUSTAIN, SELECT, SUMMIT, FLOW and TRIUMPH programmes are registered with protocols and topline results.

  • ISRCTN — UK trial registry

UK and EU clinical trial registry, complementary coverage to ClinicalTrials.gov.

  • EU Clinical Trials Register / CTIS

European clinical trial database covering EU and EEA studies.

  • Cochrane Library

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses relevant to GLP-1 receptor agonists, bariatric metabolic care and related interventions.
